Description: Rotarians from around Missouri gathered in Springfield to hub-bub and handshake with one of its own, Ray Klinginsmsith, who will become RI's new world-wide president on July 1.

Springfield Rotarians help man the registration desk. More than 500 Missouri Rotarians attended the statewide meeting involving three districts. Rita Esterly, center, District 6080 president-elect, joins Rotarian Joe and members of the South Korea GSE Team which visited Rotary clubs throughout Missouri. Ray Klinginsmith jokes that it took him 50 years to finally become president of Rotary. He is the first from Missouri to be an RI president since 1935.
Major league baseball star Whitey Herzog cracks jokes about his old friends, Casey Stengel and Yogi Berra. The former St. Louis Cardinal and Kansas City Royal manager will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in July. A stage full of foreign flags decorate the speakers' stand at the Show-Me Rotary Conference, representing the countries of exchange students who have spent the past year in Missouri. Linda Nichols, president-elect of the Jefferson City West Rotary Club, visits with RI President-Elect Ray Klinginsmith at the Show-Me Conference. Linda, a professional photographer, took photos of Rotarians with the future world-wide Rotary president. Sue and Don Alberti of Jefferson City Downtown club help answer questions about Rotary from exchange students -- one from Switzerland, the other outbound for Switzerland. RI President-elect Ray Klinginsmith, center, and his wife Judie enjoy getting a photograph taken with all the foreign exchange students who have been attending school in Missouri for the past year.
